Interior Trends Autumn/Winter 2024

Is it just me, or is it starting to feel decidely autumnal? There was a covering of frost on my roof this morning and the trees on my street are beautiful shades of red and orange. It’s not just nature that’s changing its mood; the world of interiors is also embracing the move to hunkering down for the winter with rich textures and warm hues. In this post, I’ll share my favourite trends for the upcoming months and how they can inspire your home with both style and comfort, perfectly tailored to the colder seasons. Whether you are looking for a statement piece or a subtle refresh, these ideas will help you curate your space and if you’d like to bring them to life, Janesville Upholstery can help you, with my bespoke upholstery services.

Muted tones - Nature’s colours

Love it or hate it, you could say that brown is having its moment in the design world. So are olive green, burgundy and mustard. So if brown is not your bag, there’s a similarly rich natural tone for everyone. This is reflected in this season’s clothing trends too. Chcoolate brown and burgundy were evident in collections on the catwalk from Bottega, Mui Mui and many others. These deep tones hark back to an era of sumptous luxury, anti-tech, a slower pace of life. Something many of us aspire to these days. These colours really bring mid-century and antique furniture to life, complimented by wood tones and soft lighting.

Cosy minimalism/Quiet luxury

This is a trend that has been around a while but shows no signs of waning just yet. A visit to Decorex 2024 at Olympia in London earlier this week just highlighted the ongoing appeal of minimalist furniture with curves and pale or luxury natural fabrics such as mohair velvet or wool bouclè. Quiet luxury leans towards classic, investment or statement pieces that you can build a room around. Pale fabrics are not for the faint hearted and if you have small children or large pets, you might want to consider this option quite carefully but sleek shapes and minimal fuss make a room look very stylish and modern as well as establishing a serene atmosphere.

Checkerboard & Stripes

If all this plain furniture is just too sedate and you want to bring some joy to your interior, you can’t go wrong with colourful stripes. This is a really playful look which can add vibrancy to a room. If it’s too much for your sofa, it works really well on accent pieces, such as small chairs, footstools, headboards and cushions. Colours of Arley have a fantastic offering, which enables you to choose two colours from a huge selection and create your own bespoke stripe in different widths and base cloth options.
