I remember sitting on an old rocking chair with my brother as a very small child. My parents donated it to me when I left home and although it certainly wasn't an antique, it had sentimental value. Unfortunately, since then it had been battered, fallen victim to a kitten and been abandoned to the shed at the bottom of the garden but never forgotten about. I took up evening classes in order to give it a revamp.

I loved the process of reupholstery from the very start. I am now trained in both traditional and modern techniques with accreditation from the Association of Master Upholsterers, achieving distinctions at each level of the three year course.

I can't get enough of seeing the transformation of a piece of old furniture and the look on the owner's face when they get back a much loved chair but no longer have to cover it with blankets and hide it in the corner of the room.

In an age where furniture is disposable it is great to extend the life of an old piece for a new generation to get the benefit.
